For the past few weeks, I’ve been stalking Google to find out who won the Fox News College Challenge, an annual competition that encourages college journalists to submit a broadcast story. I knew the big announcement was coming soon… and I just found out I didn’t win. A story on wolves in Montana won over my story on fracking, a controversial drilling technique that’s caused quite a stir in Athens County. Now that I know I haven’t won, I can share my story with you.
I’m now waiting to hear back from several other opportunities. About a month ago, I applied for the Online News Association Conference’s student newsroom. Today, I’m applying for the Statehouse News Bureau, a paid internship in Columbus this fall. Alyssa Hansen is working with 10TV this quarter, covering Statehouse news for WOUB.
I’ve also updated the “recent broadcast stories” section of my homepage with a few videos I’m just now getting around to posting. Take a look!
